about applying
If you'd like to apply for a character, you're in the right place! As of June 24, applications are now always open. Fill out one of the two forms on this page depending on the type of character you're applying for and post it in the comments of this entry. While you fill out your application, here are a few things to keep in mind:
  • Please read over the rules and FAQ before you begin to fill out your application—This will save you headaches later!
  • Check the taken and reserved pages to make sure that your character isn't listed on either (unless you reserved them, naturally).
  • Please check your application for spelling and grammatical errors. While we're hardly going to reject for a misspelled word or two, a large amount of errors makes us much more likely to reject an application.
  • Plagiarism is unacceptable. If we find an application has been plagiarized, it will result in immediate rejection and a ban from the game.
  • You may app ONE character per round, for a total of THREE characters in the game. You may have two characters from the same canon provided they have little or no interaction in canon.
  • If you're already in the game, all of your current characters must have passed the last AC to apply for a new character. If this is your first character, don't worry about this, of course!
  • When posting your application, please format the subject line of your first comment in some form of Character Name - Series - Reserved/Unreserved in that order. Do not link to your application.
  • Original characters are allowed, but their applications are judged to a much higher standard than canon characters. We want to make sure that the character and their world are thought-out and developed. This isn't meant to discourage such characters in the slightest, so all this really means is take care to explain the world your character comes from especially, since all we have to judge them by is what you tell us!
  • If we ask for a revision, don't worry! Usually we just need clarification on something before we decide on your application. If you are asked for one, you have five days to supply the requested revision.

CANON: Axis Powers Hetalia

CANON POINT: June 2013

AGE: She appears to be in her early-mid twenties but is actually somewhere over 1200 years.

APPEARANCE: picture here

PERSONALITY:

Ukraine is a very warm hearted and loving nation. She’s the older sister of both Belarus and Russia and was something of a mother figure for them when they were younger. She gets along with most nations and she cares for her people like they were her children. She’s something of a team mom for most of Eastern Europe, not just her siblings. She’s also good friends with many of the other female nations such as Hungary and Liechtenstein who she shares a strip with taking about traditional clothing where they call each other by nicknames.

She’s cheerful and upbeat for the most part, unless she’s worried about something. Ukraine tends to worry about things a lot. It’s something she’s known for and she worries far too much then she should. Her history gives her a lot to worry about as she’s usually poor and doesn’t have very good luck. She has a tendency of getting dragged into trouble by others who take advantage of her kind nature. Being pulled into situations like wars, or being taken over by the nations surrounding her. She tends to break out in tears at times as well when she’s worried.

However, despite being a bit of a cry baby, Ukraine is also described as ‘fearsome’ and someone who will stand their ground to the last. She may worry but she won’t let that get in the way of acting or fighting if that’s what’s needed. She’s one of the few nations that is not afraid of Russia and Belarus and tends to try to help them when they have problems, or they scare other people. She can be scary at times as well, but this is rare and her siblings are so scary all of the time, other people tend to focus on them and not her. All the same you do not want to make her angry.

Her relationship with Russia is bumpy as she cares about him dearly, but he’s also been responsible for a lot of her troubles. She understands why other people might hate him, but she doesn’t. He’s her brother and she loves him. However, her independence is very important to her and in the end she will pick her people over family.

Her relationship with Belarus is somewhat bumpy as well. Ukraine worries about her sister’s obsession with Russia and just wants her to be happy. However Ukraine tends to ignore any cruel things her sister might say, and loves her anyway. She just wishes that Belarus would stop breaking poor Lithuania’s fingers, and scaring everyone.

Ukraine can be a bit forgetful at times and she’s forgotten when her boss has forbidden her to speak to Russia and had to run off right after arriving once. This is shown in a strip when she runs away after trying to bring some milk over. She also sometimes talks before she thinks things over.
She’s an incredibly hard worker, working long hours farming and doing things that might make things easier for her people. It’s one of the reasons she usually has a pitchfork with her. She’s always looking for ways to help them and she’s very proud of them. Despite seeming quiet Ukraine is a proud nation, who wants to make sure her culture and history is preserved.

PROJECTED CLASS: Mage | Summoner
I can see her going toward this role because:
-She will want to help her friends when they go on missions
-She has strong ties to nature/elements
-She’s old enough to remember the old myths and legends about spirits and they don’t scare her.
-A sunny happy person being surrounded by people others find terrifying is pretty par for the course for her given her siblings.

OTHER: Additional notes/questions about the character go here.

THIRD PERSON SAMPLE

Ukraine sat down with a sigh. It was a lot to take in. Getting stuck in a strange world, being told to join a guild and then discovering she had the potential to use magic. She wasn’t sure how that last one was true, but well that’s apparently what she was going to be learning here wasn’t it?

She only sat for a few minutes before getting up and getting back to tidying the room she would be staying in. Her pitchfork was leaning against the wall in a way that made it almost homey. She’d have to find some fabric in the future and make a flag to hang up as well. Somehow she doubted she was going to find a Ukrainian flag for sale in this strange land.

She was going to start crying in the future, once it fully sunk in that there was no simple way to get back to her home or her family, but for now she worked on organizing the room to her liking. The picture of her siblings that had luckily been in her wallet was now lying on the desk by her notebook and she looked at it for a moment before finding a safer place for it. She’d have some interesting stories to tell them when they met again at least.

And after sorting out a few more things that was that. There wasn’t anything else to do but sit down with her notebook and make a few lists of things. She wrote and idly touched the necklace with the blue stone she’d been given. A means of communication apparently, though she had yet to try it and wasn’t really sure she had anyone here she knew to talk to. Did the people brought here have a community she didn’t know about? She planned to wait and see if there were any other new students around who knew about the answer to that before she tried to contact anyone who might not even be here. The person who had enchanted it had been very clear about how it worked at least, so she knew that much.

After a little while she closed her notebook, picked up her pitchfork and went out to try and meet new people.

IC
NAME: America
CANON: Axis Powers Hetalia
CANON POINT: Modern day
AGE: Old Around 400, but appears to be in his early 20s
APPEARANCE: Link

PERSONALITY: AMERICA IS THE HERO. If there's a problem, America is your go-to guy! Okay, sure, he might not always fix something exactly how others would, and your situation might end up more Things America Likes than Things You Asked For, but hey, his heart is in the right place, okay! Your life would have totally sucked without him!

America really does have a heart of gold, and a strong desire to help those in need. He just has a tendency to act without thinking, or to get caught up in his own ideas and forget that his preferences aren't everyone's. He's fairly shortsighted as well, and doesn't always remember to factor in what will be most beneficial in the long run when deciding on a plan of action. That being said, he has an incredibly acute sense of right and wrong, and he won't stand by idly while injustice is done! He just really really wants to help everyone, and only partially because he wants the recognition and adoration that comes with being a hero! (That doesn't mean he won't occasionally take a little more credit for things than he deserves.)

On the other hand, he's also the type of person that gets pissed off and can hold grudges for a long-ass time. Probably the most obvious example is his ongoing animosity with Russia. Despite the fact that the Cold War has been over for over 20 years, Russians are still the stereotypical movie villain, and even mild socialism freaks him out. (On the other hand, he doesn't seem to have nearly as much trouble dealing with currently Communist China-- probably because he gets a lot of cheap crap out of the deal). There are some things America just doesn't like, and will therefore declare them to be unilaterally bad without a whole lot of supporting evidence. Or sometimes even when there's evidence to the contrary-- he's very good at ignoring facts in favor of his own reality.

America's also kind of an airhead. Despite having a brilliant mind for science (some of the greatest inventions and scientific advancements of our time have come from America after all!) he tends to lack common sense. He more or less operates on a different wavelength than the rest of the world-- marching to the beat of his own drummer, if you will-- which sometimes gives him a hard time understanding why other countries would do things the way that they do, and definitely gives most other countries a hard time understanding why he does what he does (just look at his "screw the rules I do what I want" continuing use of the imperial system).

America is energetic, friendly, and helpful to the majority of people he meets, and for a lot of people, that's probably all they'll see. Charming, entertaining, but ultimately pretty shallow. America often gets read as naive, or an idiot, or someone who can't read the atmosphere, because he always presents a positive, upbeat attitude and childlike enthusiasm for things. It's not that his outward persona is fake, but it is... emphasized. America loves to be liked and he loves to make friends, so, like any politician, he presents the public face that will be most appealing to his audience. It's not hard. But for those that he's very close to, there are a lot of deeper emotions there under the surface that he can have a hard time processing himself.

Probably the easiest example to point out is his relationship with England, historically and currently. As a child, looking up to England as a mentor and father-figure, America idolized and idealized him. Even his disgusting food was perfect in America's eyes. But as America grew and came to learn more about the world-- as his citizens grew discontent with monarchy and began to discuss revolution-- America began to realize that England was not the perfect being that he had always seen him as. He had flaws, and big ones-- America was angry, but more than that he was heartbroken to learn that the person he had loved so much wasn't what he had thought. Though their relationship eventually mends after the revolution into a peer relationship (in which both continuously give each other a hard time), in the America's Storage Cleaning strip we learn that America can't bring himself to get rid of the toy soldiers that England had made for him when he was a boy, since they hold too many memories of his once-idealized guardian. But neither can he bring himself to get rid of his old scratched musket, with its memories of the times they bitterly fought. (He would be terribly embarrassed if England knew he kept any of that stuff of course-- heroes don't get sappy over old toys!)

In a similar vein is his relationship with Canada. Since they met as children, and grew up together in a way, they refer to each other as brothers and are fairly close. And although America's domineering personality generally pushes Canada to the background, he's actually possibly one of the only countries who can really get under America's skin and get him to back down in an argument. In one strip, a typical siblingesque argument between the two, picking at each other's faults, quickly turns into a three hour rant from Canada that actually reduces America to tears. While he and Russia may antagonize each other near-constantly, he definitely has an easier time letting the insults roll off his back and returning fire than when his flaws are picked out by someone who he's close to.

In his downtime, America just likes to chill out and relax, playing video games or watching TV. Because he hates the cold, he'll spend most of the winter hanging around in his pajamas in front of the television with a big supply of snacks. He's got a thing for horror movies and games that Japan gives him, even though he is absolutely terrified of ghosts (then he ends up dragging whoever happens to be around-- England, Lithuania, Japan-- into bed with him so he won't have nightmares). On the other hand, when the weather is nice, he enjoys outdoor activities as well. He's crazy about sports (baseball being his favorite), and loves to go to the beach. He also likes to tinker around with things, and ends up making weird inventions that the other nations don't understand.

PROJECTED CLASS: Lancer › Knight. It's a little old-fashioned for someone as avid about weapons technology as America, but given the setting, the knight class seems like it would be the best fit. America is definitely one to charge to the forefront of battle, and is exactly the self-sacrificing hero-type (and physical tank) that would willingly take damage for his allies.

OTHER: Nah.

SAMPLES
FIRST PERSON SAMPLE: Link

THIRD PERSON SAMPLE: America hefted the lance they had given him and gave it an appraising once over, tossing it from hand to hand to get a feel for its weight and balance. Stuff like that was a little before his time, tech-wise, so the sum of his practical lancing experience mostly involved nerf poles and foam pits, but he still had the basic idea. It was a little weird to think about, the whole 'knight' thing-- fealty and subservience made him itch-- but if you thought about it as some kind of high-immersion LARP (which he had chosen to do), then it was actually pretty cool. America the dashing knight, rescuing damsels and fighting dragons. Real old-fashioned hero stuff. It had a nice ring to it.

Tossing the lance back to his right hand, America made a few practice thrusts at the straw testing dummy. Underhand, overhand, what sort of grip were you supposed to use? He took the thing in both his hands again, about a third of the way down the shaft, lifted it to his shoulder and swung it around like a baseball bat. The blade struck the dummy in the neck, knocking its head clean off and halfway across the yard.

"Woo-hoo!" America grinned, pumping his fist triumphantly. Okay, this was actually going to be super awesome. Enthused, he tried spinning the lance in front of him, first with two hands, then with one. Pleased with himself, he attempted to spin it behind his back and over his head like a bo staff. Instead, he ended up knocking the butt end against his shoulder, losing his grip entirely and sending it flying up in the air. It landed point down, quivering in the earth, just a bit ahead and between his feet. He stared at it owlishly.

Okay, maybe he was going to need a little bit more practice.

IC
NAME: Sayaka Miki
CANON: Puella Magi Madoka Magica
CANON POINT: Episode 7, after meeting Kyouko.
AGE: 14 years old
APPEARANCE: Transformed | School uniform

PERSONALITY:

Sayaka is bff material. Cheerful, caring, courageous, enjoys teasing her friends...definitely the friend of a magical girl protagonist. She is one of the few examples that not all blue girls are intellectual and refined; actually, her personality is quite boyish. The drama CDs reveal she isn't a very bright student and she sleeps in class. But everything changes after meeting Mami. Sayaka felt such admiration towards her that she, along with Homura, became one of the fewest characters Sayaka doesn't call by their first name. However, in Homura's case, it's out of disdain. When they are told Kyuubey could grant them only one wish, she immediately thinks of her crush: Kyosuke. Not only that, but she could also become a magical girl and spread hope!

"I think we're just ignorant. We're ignorant in bliss."

Probably, we could relate to Sayaka in a few aspects. Despite being a teen, she still has some childish thoughts. Her admiration towards Mami fueled her determination to become a magical girl, imagining it would be like being a super hero from some anime. And, despite being boyish, she has black-and-white and idealistics of love. For the sake of healing her beloved, she decides to trade away her soul for it. In return, she must fight for love and justice; sounds like a good deal, isn't it? Ignorance is a bliss indeed. As she was ignorant of the truth behind magical girls, she was also ignorant of her true feelings. Before making her wish, Mami warned her saying: "Do you want to fulfill his wish? Or do you want to be the person who fulfilled his wish?" After Mami’s death, Sayaka decides to make a contract. This was after Kamijou gets fed up of not being able to play the violin anymore, and to protect the Mitakihara Tomoe Mami protected until her death. Sayaka always fights for what she believes is right, because of this, she constantly entered conflict with Kyouko, and she was even willing to kill her after she made mocked her for what she wished for and why she goes after familiars. It is also this reason why she can get obsessed over her mistakes and she will reject other people’s kindness as she considers herself unworthy it. It was until Hitomi confessed her feelings when she realized her real wish was to be loved by the person she traded her soul away for. In that moment, Sayaka becomes a hypocrite and she even knew it. She wanted to fight for love and justice; yet, she immediately regretted saving Hitomi’s life due to a love issue. Definitely not a moral figure of justice, and that just made her hate herself.

"Wishing for someone else's happiness means someone has to be cursed to suffer as much. That's what it means to be a Puella Magi."

When Sayaka transforms into a witch, several aspects of her barrier can define her unconscious. For example, in the entrance, the words 'Love Me Do' are written on the floor; which is actually a song expressing the begging of having their love returned. The walls of the entrance are also filled with the words ‘look at me’. As a witch, she wears a pink ribbon; in episode 1, Junko advices Madoka to wear a pink ribbon because it would bring attention, which is what Sayaka desires: to be noticed by Kamijou. In the third timeline, her familiars were some girls who looked a lot like Hitomi and they danced cheerfully around the witch; indicating she felt betrayed. Not only she lost her crush, she also lost her friend.

"I will die when I lose by witches. That's well; I'm not needed any more if I'm unable to defeat witches."

Since Sayaka's role model was Mami, getting grief seeds wasn't a priority for her before. As well as Madoka, she can consider herself useless and worthless if she can't kill witches. In the psp game, it is revealed that her transformation into a witch could have been avoided if she talked with Kyouko about it before despair completely controlled her. For a few people, this is strange because they were trying to kill each other in episode 7, but when we look closer, we can realize they are alike: they both wanted to become heroes, they just wanted to help their loved ones, and that's why Kyouko sympathized with her so suddenly. Maybe, if they had met before- not as magical girls, they would have become good friends.

Overall, Sakaya Miki is a realistic character. She's caring, naive, and wants to become a hero of justice; but she can let herself be guided by her emotions. She's still a teenager so she's still kind of immature, impulsive, and stubborn and easily enters conflict with others. But she's described by her friends as nice and energetic and she’s admired for her stubbornness. Even Homura thinks way too kind and courageous for her own good.

PROJECTED CLASS: Warrior ➤ Paladin

Paladins fight in the name of good and order, and that's pretty much what Sayaka wishes to do during the time she was a magical girl, she just wants to be a hero. She also possessed healing powers and her main weapon was a cutlass

OTHER: When she arrives, one of Sayaka's cutlasses with come with her and the soul gem in her belly button loses all of its magical power.

[There's a girl giving a confused stare at the jewel. She stares closer to see it properly.]

Hey, what is going on here? What is this? it looks like a soul gem...Other people can see this, right?

[Realizing the answer, she adjusts her voice.]

Okay, my name's Sayaka Miki. Just a while ago, i was in Mitakihara and I don't really know what happened but...I ended up here. Anyhow, if anyone's from there as well, please message me and I will reply as quick as I can! Thank you!

THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:

A different world, different people, and a different environment… How long has it been since her arrival? Weeks? Months? She already lost the count. After joining the Seven Titans, her initial desire of wanting to go back home was forgotten.

“-HA!”

A sudden jump, and then, a slash. Seeing that the monster fainted, the cutlass is pulled in.

“Not bad, Sayaka. You’re improving!”

“R-Really?” Her arm is behind her back and her cheeks suddenly turned into a not so visible pink. Even before her arrival she was still unskilled with the sword but her style was reflected on her thoughts of how a hero would fight. “…” Her hand goes to her belly button. That gem that was the source of her power and contained her soul is now nothing more than just a pretty jewel…

“What’s wrong? Having a stomach ache?” Hearing that, she immediately comes back to reality. She responds, “Eh? Ah! No, no! Not at all” And adds a laugh. “Don’t worry about me, let’s keep training!” And with that, she pulls out the sword.  This… this wasn’t so different from being a magical girl and maybe… this is even better? She didn’t have to fight with despair anymore. It was still confusing, but she can handle it. Her concern was on who was going to protect the city of Mitakihara now that she’s in a totally different world. The transfer student, maybe? Haha, naw.

“Good work today!” Sayaka cheerfully says as they go the bedrooms after finishing the training. Sitting on her bed, she gives a sigh and a tantrum. “I don’t get it… why am I still so sloppy?” And she lies down. “Just look at (insertanynamehere), he joined the guild the same time as me but he’s so skilled now! It’s not fair! ” And with that, she falls asleep. One day she'll be stronger, maybe.

NAME: Togashi Yuuta
CANON: Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai!
CANON POINT: Post canon
AGE: 16
APPEARANCE: http://moe.animecharactersdatabase.com/uploads/chars/5092-1962548693.jpg
PERSONALITY:
Though he may appear as an unassuming schoolboy, Togashi Yuuta is much more than this. He is actually the Dark Flame Master, a very powerful warrior and master of blade, guns, and magic. He spends his time battling those that others cannot see from other worlds, and has even cracked the code on how to invade these worlds. He is very dramatic, very confident, and very powerful, even when doing such mundane things as consuming sustenance for upcoming battles. Indeed, Yuuta is far more than just your average middle schooler!

Or so he once believed. Of course, since Chuunibyou is but a slice of life series, things like magic and other worlds don't really exist. Yuuta was nothing more than a victim of eigth-grader syndrome, or chuunibyou, and only pretended to be the all-mighty Dark Flame Master. Now a high schooler, his past delusions cause him great embarrassment; so much so that he deliberately chose a high school where no one he knew from middle school was going. The series also begins with him packing up his old costumes and props and taking them out to his balcony to stay until they are thrown away, and just to cement this important fact, whenever anyone mentions anything he said, did, or even just calls him Dark Flame Master, he always comically overreacts. Be it from freaking out, to shouting, to repeatedly slamming his head against the nearest surface while repeating the words I WANT TO FORGET!, it's clear Yuuta is trying his hardest to purge such memories and all associated with it from the very Earth. Yuuta's entire motivation in life now is to be the most normal high schooler ever, and with it live the most normal high schooler's most normal life. Socializing normally with people, eating lunch with friends, and engaging in class activities are all the ways he tries to achieve this goal. This is especially apparent by how much he appreciates these activities early on; in the first episode, he's overjoyed to be invited to lunch by his new friends. He's also instantly attracted to the class idol Nibutani, hoping for a normal romance to fit his new normal life.

But try as he might, Yuuta cannot entirely shake his old ways. He's a very imaginative person, something that probably led to his chuunibyou in the first place. He often imagines situations suggested to him or that he wants, such as romantic fantasies of Nibutani or trying to imagine what Rikka, his still chuuni friend, would act like in a romantic relationship. In fact, when dealing with Nibutani early on in the series, he specifically calls upon his imagination to attempt and simulate how situations with her will go whenever something happens, such as her asking to come to his house. He also still has some old Dark Flame Master-esque interests within him; when seeing Rikka's room for the first time, he notices a certain kind of gun on her wall and begins to excitedly play with it, completely forgetting the fact that another visitor is in the room as well. He also calls upon his old persona multiple times to help Rikka out: he did it when giving her a new email address after she passed her math test, and also came up with a huge speech when confessing to her much later on. He's still clearly embarrassed by such outbursts, of course, and each time he starts getting sucked into his old interests or whips out his Dark Flame Master voice and speech, he never lasts long, and always feels deeply ashamed. More minor points of his lingering past are his impressive art skills, due to how often he'd draw art related to Dark Flame Master in his heyday, and his interest in gaming, with him throwing down a few references and shown playing a game in his free time with the dramatic name of Setsuna for his character.

Getting away from his desire for normalcy and his Dark Flame Master persona, Yuuta himself is pretty emotional guy. His feelings are always clear on his face; be it happiness, sadness, surprise, anger, embarrassment, and even being lovestruck, and he often has overblown reactions and outbursts to things. Despite this, he's also pretty snarky, especially when dealing with Rkka and Dekomori, the two current chuunis of the show. Related to this is how willing he is to give people a smack in the head when their too deep in insanity. Rikka is the most common receiver of this, often after being too delusional in public or saying something especially ridiculous, but Dekomori and Isshiki, his hyperactive perverted male friend, are also not safe. Yuuta is completely open to hitting anyone ridiculous enough, and with any object too. Of course, these are just light smacks to get them back to reality, and would never actually go out of his way to harm anyone. Depsite his snarky attitude of disbelief and occasional smacking of characters back to sanity, Yuuta is an all-around nice guy. No matter how ridiculous she may be with her delusions of grandeur, he deeply cares for Rikka. From joining her club contrary to saying he wouldn't, to helping her study when said club's existence depends on her less than stellar math skills, to even falling in love with her and trying his hardest to help her with her personal issues, he's always there to help Rikka out. Though he may get confused at what's best for her, as shown during the later parts of the series when he makes her try and accept reality rather than hide behind her chuuni persona and ends up doing more harm than good to all around him, his heart is always in the right place. He's always willing to lend a helping hand or ear to the others as well; be it Isshiki's silly love letter problems or Nibutani's equally embarrassing past. And as the series goes on he becomes more willing to help out, especially towards Rikka; while in the beginning he might require a bit of persuasion, later on he's operating solely to make his friends happy.

In the end, though he desires to be normal and forget his past, Yuuta just can't escape the grasp of chuunibyou. Be it his lingering affection for certain guns, his tendency to get lost in his imagination, his overblown reactions to things, or the fact that his closest friend/girlfriend is a big case herself, it continues to follow him throughout the series. And though he's already a nice guy at heart, his past experiences with eight-grader syndrome help him understand Rikka's plight better, and by interacting with her and everyone she drags along, Yuuta shows that he's capable of caring very deeply for those important to him, even if it means summoning the embarrassing persona of Dark Flame Master once again.
PROJECTED CLASS: Warrior > Punisher
Eyeing the Punisher class, a role that fits Yuuta's chuuni persona of Dark Flame Master too well to pass up, Yuuta would choose the warrior guild and go for those sweet dark magic abilities. Though he doesn't have any actual combat experience, he sure has done a lot of practice swinging around large plastic swords, so he'd feel most comfortable there anyway.

D-did I really just choose that class?! I can't believe I just did that!

Yuuta had walked out of the Warrior's Guild after gaining his starting equipment for the Punisher class, momentarily swayed by its neat looking powers of darkness. But unfortunately for Yuuta, this class brought back certain memories that he was trying his hardest to forget. Memories of his lonely junior high days, of eating lunch alone and watching everyone else talk in class. All of which was brought on by his insistence that he was not just another boring old student, but a powerful warrior by the name of Dark Flame Master! Just imagining how he acted back then was enough to make anyone die of embarrassment; and yet for some reason, he had chosen the class closest to his imaginary self! While trying to make sense of his actions, Yuuta continued wandering the streets, attempting to find a spot without anyone else.

I just need to calm down. I'm just confused by this whole situation! That's why this happened.

Yuuta shook his head as he thought to himself, fortifying his mind against any old personas that might be trying to reclaim control. Once again he had found himself in a situation where no one knew anything about his especially embarrassing lifestyle choices of the past, and once again he wasn't going to screw it up! After some momentary silence and a deep sigh, Yuuta began to run some options through his head. Eventaully, he had figured a way to make sure nothing went wrong.

I just need to get it out my system now, where no one can see me. Not that it would really matter in this crazy setting… but still! It's way too embarrassing!

Yuuta clenched his fist and took a deep breath, then quickly looked around, just in case someone had snuck up on him in his moments of deep thought. After being completely satisfied that the surrounding are was 100% free of any potential voyuers, he lowered his mental defenses, letting his old friend take over. Striking a silly pose and sticking his hand out, with his sword gripped tightly in his other hand with all his might, Yuuta shouted in an especially deep voice:

"You would dare face me, the Dark Flame Master? You must have a death wish, fool! BE ENVELOPED BY THE FLAMES OF DARKNESS!"

After that ridiculous display, Yuuta let out another sigh of relief as his body relaxed from the tense posture, trickles of embarrassment beginning to appear on his cheeks. He shook his head again and clapped his cheeks, then ended with a small, satisfied nod. Satisfied at his performance, Yuuta was sure that he was done with his eight-grader syndrome for now, and walked back to the Guild to continue trying to make heads and tails of his new situation.

IC
NAME: Sanae Dekomori
CANON: Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai!
CANON POINT: After the end of the series (when she’s seen having reverted back to her “Chuuni” ways)
AGE: 15
APPEARANCE: http://i.imgur.com/4IFCcnq.jpg?1
PERSONALITY:
Dekomori is a prime example of a chuunibyou or a person going through “eigth-grader syndrome” as it’s translated to. The series describes it as “an adorable, yes dreadful disease resulting from new-found self-awareness mixing with an overly active imagination which results in the peculiar behavior.” Basically it’s when children start acting like fictional characters of their own creation and get immersed in their own fantasy world. As far as Dekomori is concerned, she’s the wielder of the Mighty Mjolnir Maul and with its might can make “men meet their mortality”. In actuality she’s just a normal junior high schooler named Sanae Dekomori with no mystical powers to speak of, but a girl can dream can’t she?

Being a side character, the series doesn’t dwell into too much of her past. From what we’re told, Dekomori had started frequenting online forums a year before the start of the series in search of answers about the “Otherworld”. That’s when she came into contact with the wielder of the Wicked Eye, Rikka Takanashi, who granted her with personal responses to her questions. During their messaging back and forth, the two soon realized that Dekomori was actually Rikka’s servant from a past life! This soon led to a close friendship between the two girls, and they remained in close contact ever since then. Another important person whom Dekomori came into contact with during that time was a mage named Forest Summer. Forest Summer wrote about all phenomena throughout the world from birth to death in a book called the Mabinogion’s Rainbow Manuscript, which according the Dekomori is the “source of all knowledge.” Dekomori believes that she’s the prophet of Forest Summer and refers to the Mabinogion often for words of wisdom.

Outside of her “Chuuni history”, not much is known about Dekomori’s personal life. In the last episode it can be inferred that she comes from a wealthy family since she arrived at Rikka’s house in an upper-class sedan and having a butler with her as well. It’s also revealed that, despite coming off as quite the ditz, Dekomori’s grades in school are among the best in her year level and at one point she’s seen tutoring one of her fellow students in math.

Dekomori, at first, comes off as someone who thinks very highly of herself. Since she sees herself as a powerful warrior, she looks down upon other humans with arrogance. When she first meets Yuuta, she refers to him as a “foolish mortal” and comments that “his eyes are that of a commoner rotten to the core”. She carries herself in a very grandiose way and expresses herself physically to an almost ridiculous degree. One of the ways she loves expressing herself is through flailing her twin tails around and sometimes points them at people for emphasis. That being said, she doesn’t always come off as cool or graceful as she intends. Dekomori has had many moments during the series where in the midst of her dramatic hair flailing, she’s managed to trip on it or become completely entangled in her hair. As much as Dekomori wants to come off as tough, in the end she’s still a dorky middle schooler and it shows.

Despite putting up the front of someone with boundless confidence, Dekomori still has her own insecurities and flaws. She gets very sensitive whenever anyone mentions her short height and usually responds with “I have a lot of growing ahead of me!” or something of that manner. She absolutely hates milk yet she forces herself to drink it in the hopes that it will help her grow taller. She has terrible motion sickness, but remains stubborn when offered help when dealing with it. Dekomori also has moments when she can act like a true child and will throw mini tantrums (though since she’s such a drama queen, they can’t always be taken at face value).

Though Dekomori comes off as standoffish towards most people she is shown to be extremely compassionate towards Rikka. Part of it ties into the fact that Dekomori sees herself as Rikka’s servant, but their relationship has clearly evolved past that into a close friendship. In one episode, Dekomori tells Yuuta how Rikka would call her almost every night to tell Dekomori about how she was doing and would ask Dekomori’s advice on certain things going on. Another important relationship Dekomori has in the series is her relationship with Nibutani, the real identity of Forest Summer. Nibutani has since rejected her past Chuuni self and her and Dekomori throughout the series have a very rocky relationship. The two go back and forth, tormenting each other constantly. However, by the end of the series you see that the two have come a long way with their relationship and Dekomori even lets Nibutani comfort her when she’s upset. So while Dekomori can seem detached from most people, she really just takes a while to warm up to people at first before being able to become friends with them.

In one of the last episodes of the series, Yuuta confronts Dekomori about her eight grader syndrome, telling her that none of the attacks and magic she’s been pretending to use has been real. At first she merely tells him to shut up but after more badgering she finally breaks down and tells him that she knows that. In this moment you realize that Dekomori has been able to separate herself from fantasy and reality this whole time, she’s just chosen not to. This is different from Rikka’s case who needed the cling onto her fantasy in order to cope with the real world. Dekomori simply preferred the fantasy she had created but wasn’t bound by it. This explains why Dekomori had seemed to have adjusted to Chuuni life much better than the rest of the cast since she still seemed to be on good terms with her other classmates (unlike the other Chuuni cases, where they had been generally outcast or ignored). In one of the earlier episodes you get a glimpse of this as you see her go back and forth between talking to Rikka and then speaking normally (for the most part) to another student she’s tutoring in math.

After her confrontation with Yuuta we get to see “normal” Dekomori. She’s much more polite, referring to all of her older classmates as “senpai” and uses very formal language when speaking. She still has moments of her usual, dorky self (finding ridiculous things to be “deathly cool”) but for the most part her normal self is the opposite of her Chuuni self. At the very end of the series, we see that Dekomori has reverted back to her Chuuni ways and seems happier because of it. While she can pass for a normal person if need be, she clearly enjoys living a fantasy life with her friends much more.

PROJECTED CLASS:
Fighter > Berserker
I chose this class because it fit best with the Chuuni persona Dekomori formed for herself. Her character uses a giant hammer to fight with and in mock battles with Rikka, you can see that she can use great force behind her attacks but may not have the best precision behind it. The ability “smash” and “charge” also sounded similar to an attack she used in the series where she used ran at full force with her hammer to destroy a force field Rikka had been using. The class itself seems to fit her personality as well, since she can be very brash and tends to act before thinking.

OTHER: In the show, Dekomori ends most of her sentences with “desu” but since that sounds really awkward to do in English I’ll be handling it the way the anime subs did and will have her use the word “death/deathly” as a substitute (since her use of the word desu is meant to emphasize the word death).

THIRD PERSON SAMPLE

“This is so deathly cool!” Dekomori muttered to herself. Weapons lined the walls of the shop and Dekomori couldn’t help but closely examine each and every one of them. It’s one thing to imagine yourself holding weapons or to play with toy versions, but it’s a whole other experience to actually see the real deal in person. As much as Dekomori prided herself in her powers of imagination, she knew her fantasies couldn’t compare to what she saw laid out before her.

Dekomori let out a giddy chuckle. “Uuhuhuhuhu, which deathly one will I choose to use for myself!?” Dekomori’s excitement was reaching critical levels! She was filled with such joy that she was finally going to be able to make all of her fantasies into a reality! She loved pretending to be the powerful wielder of the Mighty Mjolnir Maul with Rikka as her master, but deep down (as much as she hated admitting it) she’d always known that it wasn’t real. But now, now things were different! She could finally live the life she had wanted to! A moment of sadness came over Dekmori. “I wish Rikka was here with me…she would love this world, deathly so.” She shook her head, twin tails flailing back and forth as she did so. Now was not the time for such feelings! She and her beloved master would be reunited once again, she was sure of it!

Dekomori’s eyes continued scanning the weapons but soon stopped at one in particular. The weapon she had her gazes on was a giant, lavishly embellished golden hammer. Dekomori began to hop up and down in place. “That one! That is the deathly weapon the mighty Dekomori shall use!” It was perfect, almost exactly like she had always imagined her weapon to be. Even though Berserkers were more known for using axes, she didn’t see the harm in mastering two weapons. Dekomori reached up and took a hold of the hammer for herself, weighing it in her hands.
“Yes, this is deathly perfect!”

IC
NAME: Belarus
CANON: Axis Powers Hetalia
CANON POINT: June 2013
AGE: 21 (appearance), somewhere around 1200-1300 actual (though see a note on this; she has essentially had a VERY LONG childhood).
APPEARANCE: This image is basically Belarus in a nutshell
PERSONALITY: Cranky, angry and more than a bit weird, Belarus is probably the least sane of the Slavic nations (assuming we're not counting Russia). Fond of knives, able to see ghosts and possessing an interest in the haunted and supernatural, Belarus is creepy enough without her crazy fixation on her equally insane brother, the aforementioned Russia.

I tried several times to try and summarize the history of Belarus and how it affected her personality, but it's kind of hard to do without turning this app into an oversized history lesson. Tried breaking it down into a timeline but it still turned out to be huge; you can find it here if you want.

The key points are that after forming an early proto-state in the 880s with the Principality of Polotsk, after its collapse she basically bounced around under the control of various major factions until finally, finally achieving independence in 1991. She developed under the wing of Kievan Rus' (the early form of her sister Ukraine), fell under the control of Lithuania and later Poland after a 13th century Mongol invasion, was essentially the rope in a tug-of-war between Poland and Russia from the 1400s all the way to the 1917 Russian Revolution, was almost completely destroyed by the Second World War and then was then a founding member of the USSR up until its dissolution in 1991, her canonical birth date. Since then she has been an independent nation; the Republic of Belarus.

Of note is the etymology at work here; 'Belarus' is short for 'Belarussia' / 'Belaya Rus' / 'Belorusia' (there's about a billion and one ways of romanising it), which basically means 'White Russia'. Belarus has always been considered (by the Tsars) as western Russia; a troubled area to be kept out of the grips of Lithuania and Poland. You could even see her personality as something of a pun; she's like her psychopathic brother Russia, only colder.

So what does all this mean for Belarus, as a person? Canonically, she is described (by Russia) as '[having] a very strong heart and equally strong will, but they only seem to manifest in negative ways'. She has a cool and pessimistic personality, is prone to wielding knives when provoked and is utterly obsessed with marrying her Brother, and to a lesser extent with making Lithuania's life pain.

A lot of this is headcanon HISTORICAL CONJECTURE but I believe Belarus was initially, during the Polotsk and Lithuanian Commonwealth period, a fairly decent, ordinary cute kid (traces of which remain in how she totally considers them still to be married), only to be stolen away by Russia and progressively brainwashed by Russification and later Sovietization (the various attempts by Russia over the centuries to enforce cultural unity, at first to deny it from Poland and later from the Western Powers) into the crazy obsessive she is now. She is violent towards Poland and Lithuania and adoring towards her brother because she is programmed to, to the point where - as like most things in Eastern Europe - it has all gone spectacularly wrong and out of control; even Russia (or possibly, especially Russia) is terrified of her. She's been fought over and passed around so many times the result is a... confused mess, firm in her own identity and independence but lost in her allegiances, having been raised by her sister Ukraine, then Lithuania and Poland, then mostly Poland, then Russia, then Germany, then Russia again, then even America for a very short period of time before finally having her own autonomy.

Though she is obsessed with Russia now it's clear she wasn't always; the many uprisings and attempts to break free are indicative of that. She has always been unruly and prone to ignoring the wishes of the other nations even whilst trying to support them. Belarus's strong association with partisans in its history (against the Nazi occupation) also supports this. Rebellion is in her blood, even when she's trying to form a Union (note how she's trying to marry him despite him finding the concept of this terrifying), it's in her nature to resist.

She had something of a relapse from the Russification and became an adopted younger sister to America after the fall of the USSR, 1991, only to fall out favour again - probably around 1994 when Lukashenko happened and go back to being obsessed with Russia. She views the rest of Eastern Europe - particularly the Baltic States as competitors for her Brother's affections, Lithuania especially and even Ukraine to an extent, though her sister is easily her best relation in all of EE from lack of invasions, counter invasions and fighting save the very early period of Kievan Rus' and that incident with Chernobyl. Ukraine is easily Belarus' most 'normal' relationship and grounding force. Of course, that said she does still hold Ukraine as the reason Russia hates her (completely missing the issue at work entirely).

She is fiercely proactive in trying to marry Russia (despite his many objections) and fiercely proactive in defending him; if the EE countries object to his proposals it's usually Belarus that threatens them (her first appearance is quite literally intimidating Latvia with a knife during a World Meeting) and she threw a coathanger at Denmark for proclaiming he'd won a costume test her brother was also attending that one time. Her concepts of love, war and peace are all fundamentally broken; to her love is demanded, war is normal and peace is strife. Independence is a very new, very strange thing for her (even though she subconsciously strives for it) and a lot of her odd behaviour is a result of an inability to acclimatise and her attempts to emulate Russia after all the Russification and Sovietization programming she's been through. Basically, she suffers from severe long term Stockholm Syndrome to the point she now terrifies and wants to rejoin her original kidnapper. Russia himself never intended for her to become that way.

When Countries in Hetalia are under occupation / taken over by others they are taken to live in the occupier's house; for example Lithuania is commonly seen in Russia's house as a sort of secretary for most of the Empire and Soviet periods. Equally, they also 'age' as their country develops; from 880 to 1991 is essentially her 'childhood' as she slowly develops a cultural identity despite constant suppression. This manifests in her largely childish mentality and behaviour despite her apparent age, and her very simplistic view of the world.

Regarding her own life and that of ordinary humans, she is a pessimist; often getting philosophical and wondering how much longer she'll exist and why she does in the first place. She contends that '"humans are a series of misfortunes and hardships" and they're constantly filled with misfortune and make others suffer without realizing it by constantly striving for eternal happiness' (quoting the Hetalia wiki since I doubt I could put it better). Her relations with the Western Powers are tainted by the Cold War, and with the Eastern Europeans muddled and confused by her own chaotic history.

Her economy is in shambles and still to a large degree in recovery mode; it's been called 'Soviet style' for a reason. Character-wise this translates to a fondness for potatoes; "as long as we have something to eat, it's fine", she is spectacularly unfussed when it comes to food and can survive off even the very basic. Though even she probably still can't handle England's cooking. She has no real care for food and drink.

She is developing external interests slowly; she can apparently see ghosts, has a love for folk and rock music, the occult, acrobatics and performing arts. She's still quite caught up in the past; reading Pavda and finding her traditional clothes cute. Interestingly, throughout most of Belarus' history the aristocracy / ruling bodies were either Polish or Russian, with Belarusian developing amongst the working class / peasantry. This too factors into Belarus' personality; she's incredibly working class and often vulgar in her language and speech, though her interests have developed some sophistication (gymnastics, theatre and so forth).

Finally, the programming has clearly left some detrimental side effects; she is noted as being prone to sit around watching or doing nothing for hours on end (spending three hours staring at the white noise on a TV for example). She also prank calls Lithuania and Poland from time to time.

Though she appears to be a constant, icy calm she is aggressive, violent, prone to using vulgar language in that same calm manner and generally unstable. Basically, she's icy cool right up until the point something makes her snap - the something in question usually being Russia and the insulting thereof, though she will still prioritise the EE countries over the rest (Lithuania and Poland excepted).

PROJECTED CLASS: This was a toss up between Assassin, Punisher and Berserker; in the end I went with Punisher. Whilst she has the history of armed rebellion (the many revolts, the Belarussian partisans), personality wise she lacks the subtlety for it. Whilst she'd fit right in as a Berserker at the same time I'd doubt she'd sign herself up for it; it's just not how she sees herself. This leaves Punisher; they follow their own code (where hers is basically 'Russia'), still beat things up with brute strength but are not particularly sneaky; Belarus isn't the backstabbing type, she's the type to barge through a wall. Thus, she'd make a good but tad uncontrollable Punisher. Berserker and Assassin would probably be her subclasses, which will make for an... interesting combination.

That this coincidentally puts her in Lithuania's guild just adds to the potential hilarity.

This was pointless.

She'd dotted all their 'i's, ticked all their boxes and here she was, all signed up like a good tin soldier when her Brother wasn't even here. There was the wish, she supposed; the wish to be granted at the castle summit but...

...Somehow, all these little missions and errands didn't seem what the right way about it. Just too slow.

Of course her wish was without question. Entirely without question. The wish for which she'd always been raised. Always always always...

She sighed. Was there no way to make this faster? Dancing to a western tune just didn't sit right. She was Byelorussia! What she wanted, she took! It wasn't like the list was particularly long. Was this really, really the right thing to be doing?

The man she was holding up seemed happy to agree, despite the broken nose.

"Please! Please! I'll pay the debt, I'll pay the debt!"

"Are you sure?" She asked politely, fist still raised and dripping. At least the armour was useful. By the time she'd been big enough to wear any plate mail had fallen out of fashion...

"Yes! Yes I beg you!"

"Good."

He dropped to the floor with a thud.

First of four. Aaah, earning her Brother's love was taking far, far too long...

IC
NAME: Archer
CANON: Fate/Extra
CANON POINT: Post-summoning, first round fighting.
AGE: Early 20s
APPEARANCE: Here!
PERSONALITY: Archer is, in fact, Robin Hood--though he's not the only one. He has the arrogance and pomp of Robin Hood, lacking the nobility behind the name itself. Though he's part of the basis of that folk story, he's not at all liked as the real Robin Hood might have been.

Of all things, Archer can be callous and cruel in his methods, though he's not exactly a hateful person. He's been conditioned to believe that cruel tactics and a spiteful attitude towards nobility would help him survive. If anything, he once wanted to be a valiant knight as a child and it had always been a pipe dream. Instead, he found himself fighting like a cut-throat, utilizing pure tactic and demoralizing techniques to deconstruct the army he was confronting. Archer is someone who has experienced the sins of the world and lives with them in acceptance.

He's normally fairly polite to those he speaks to, though to a much shorter extent than others. He basically will exchange pleasantries to get by, but the moment he's actually confronted and put in a situation where he's nearby his enemies, he will easily become rude and abrasive, readily taunting those who he would consider to be enemies. He dislikes knights and lords of noble, rich stature because of how they put down those around them with their wealth.

Generally, Archer is a bit of an unwilling recluse. He's likely rude because of his lack of social exposure to others, given that the people of the village made him an outcast because he spoke to faeries. This lack of contact with people would have discouraged most, but he was still willing to help the people of the villages despite this. The reason being? Archer was actually a construct of the world, created to fulfill some of the hopes of the people in the village who suffered under the false, tyrant king.

In the Fate-verse, there are people that can come into existence solely based on rumor and the desires of people. Robin Hood was a construct of numerous people who fought for similar reasons--Fate/Extra's 'Archer' being one of those people. He was born to help people, so it was in his nature and a part of his personality in which he wanted to help unfortunate people. This was his lot in life not out of choice, but because others wanted it. Archer is benevolent in his intentions not out of true interest, but because he was programmed by the desires of the people to make him into that sort of 'Hero', even if they rejected him.
PROJECTED CLASS: Ranger. Though, he's potentially capable of using poisons, since they're one of his choice means of attacking others in his past life and in Fate/Extra. He should be able to cultivate poisons himself, since he's the son of a druid--someone used to growing and maintaining plants. This is a skill of his, though he does also use magic to quickly grow plants as opposed to relying on time to run its course. Otherwise, he works as a ranger because he's an extremely high grade strategist, capable of using traps in many locations to cripple even larger armies with himself as his only ally.
OTHER: He'll have his bow, a cloak and his regular clothing. He'll also have a small knife on him as well.

SAMPLES
FIRST PERSON SAMPLE: [He wore a mask. It was the only safe option. He didn't trust a soul in this place, just the same as he always did.]

Am I supposed to make a spectacle?

Tcch. What a disappointment. Am I supposed to even believe that any of you are actually capable of being proper knights?

Better yet--I imagine some of you might be naive enough to think that it's something worthy of pursuing.
THIRD PERSON SAMPLE He felt wary. The world around him was completely new. It was fresh, clean, almost pristine. Even the alleys were better kept than the village he was used to stalking around. The city itself was so well prepared for life that it seemed altogether unlikely that it was anything other than a utopia. Goldvale was a rich place.

He watched people from the shadows. Cut-purses who spotted his cloak wanted inside of it. Anyone wearing a cloak had to be hiding a purse or at the very least, a very nice trinket. There was only one thing on him he could have considered valuable and it was already tucked into a compartment of his shirt that he had no desire to fish around for. The little communication device--something that could very easily compromise him. It took conscious thought to use it, but that didn't matter much if he forgot to wear a mask or his hood to hide hismelf properly. He still needed to figure out how it functioned correctly.

Crossing the street in haste, Archer found himself in another alley. He spent the entire day avoiding people, walking by them as if he were among them in peace. Nobles walked by as if he didn't matter and he knew that was a truth, but he was still baffled by how casual it was. The cut-purses still operated the same as they ought to have. The guards were rude and brusque as they should have been and the magicians kept to themselves in their little guilds.

Still, it was unnatural. He was pulled to this place somehow and not for a war he was accustomed to. Archer was brought there as a hero, not as the assassin he should have been drawn in as. Blackmoore would have approved. That stout looking, proud knight would have thought it proper that Archer conduct himself as a hero. In disgust, he spat, "What are they, expecting somebody valiant? If I'm needed, my tactics aren't going to do anything but humble valiant knights and have them black in the face, gasping for air and thinking less and less of honor as their last moments reel in. Still, y'know--this is a pain, knowing that geezer would be happy."

Hey! I realize this is kind of off-topic however I had to ask. Does managing a well-established website such as yours take a massive amount work? I'm completely new to writing a blog but I do write in my journal on a daily basis. I'd like to start a blog so I can share my own experience and thoughts online. Please let me know if you have any ideas or tips for brand new aspiring blog owners. Appreciate it!

CANON: Shinshi Doumei +
CANON POINT: Right before Chapter 22. Chapter 22 is when Haine first learns that Shizumasa and Takanari are different people.
AGE: 15

APPEARANCE:
There's no real biodata in the canon, but it's safe to assume that she's around average height; somewhere between 5' 4" and 5' 5". It's stated that she's skinny, though she does have an enormous amount of body fat (30%), which weighs less than muscle. I'd peg her at less than 115 pounds at any rate. Her measurements are pretty plain; her breasts are about average and her hips aren't all that profound, though her waist is obviously thin.

Appearance wise, her eye colour is reminiscent of #fef202 or "getting too cold" according to colourlovers. Tanemura will occasionally change their colour due to art style purposes, but in all actuality they're a shade of yellow-amber. Her hair is a shade of brown like "Peach", or #eda615. She's dyed her hair blond multiple times and then stripped, so it appears washed out and faded and probably isn't the healthiest, but she does her best to take care of it, as apparent by her constantly changing styles and does. It's long, about down to her mid-thighs and her waist when braided.

Even though Haine has problems with people throwing around money, she dresses very well. Her style is cute and colourful and she wears dresses and skirts more often than anything. Haine also has a variety of uniforms, both for her school and her jobs. She dresses chic, but her clothes do allow movement, since she's so active.

PERSONALITY:
Haine is a very simple girl with a very complex past. Throughout her life she's gone through many trials and tribulations, and thought they all set her back, she finds her way out of any situation and/or has the ability to smile throughout almost anything. She's simple-minded, cheerful, and chipper. She can be extremely dense and isn't the brightest light on the tree, but what she lacks in intelligence she totally makes up for it in being a good person and her steadfastness. Haine is the kind of person who will give up absolutely anything for the people she loves and always puts others first. Haine also puts a very high value on love and considers it to be something precious and special. While she thinks this, love, sex, and things related to them make her extremely embarrassed. Even telling Shizumasa things related to liking him is hard for her and she gets extremely flustered afterwards

Haine is extremely good at working and has a wonderful work ethic. Once she's been given a job, she'll give it her all. She works hard for her friends and is constantly active and doing something for someone, sometimes forgetting about herself in the process. With people, Haine is good at conversing and is street smart; she's a social creature and well-liked except by those jealous of her status or irked by her cheerful disposition. She's incredibly versed in how to make people smile, though her own smiles can sometimes not be as genuine. Haine often hides and shoves aside her sadness and pain to reflect an outward appearance that's happy and cheerful. She doesn't really think that grief and sadness are things that need to be dwelled on, as the future and other matters are vastly more important.

Fighting is something she's incredibly good at, honed by her vigorous dancing classes at an early age, though the technique and force comes from a history of yanki gang activity. When she's fighting, she's incredibly in the zone and focused. She enjoys it when it's for a just cause and is extremely good at it. Once, during a fight, her front two teeth were knocked out; they are now replaced by fake ones that are easily retractable. When these fall out, she is enraged and more willing to be violent and has no real cognition as to what she's doing (unless Shizumasa is involved, then she recognizes him and would never hurt him).

Haine is extremely emotive. She sometimes takes things a little extremely and doesn't rationalize how to keep face and composure in situations. She's really bad at filtering herself and doesn't realize that sometimes she says some really dumb things. She's prone to be pretty cheesy, as per the shoujo manga heroine trope dictates, and she will often try to pump up someone and pep talk them until they feel better again. If someone has a problem, she'll be the first person there to try and help them fix it. Though she loves to help others and listen to them, she doesn't really enjoy discussing anything about herself because of the numerous things that have happened in her past and her ability to push away past instances and bad feelings and internalize them

Because of instances in her past, Haine hates money. She hates that money solves problems, along with status and the amount of money and people willing to back you. This stems from being bought and sold as a child, though it also has to do with her hard-working personality, though all these attributes help to add and enhance the others. She isn't exactly averse to rich people, though, being wealthy herself. She doesn't like the fact that a lot of poorer people have the mentality that they need to bow before rich people and that rich people think they can do whatever they want. This being said, Haine has a very keen sense of justice and enjoys and pushes people to do the right thing. Being a yanki was a way to blow off steam and an exhibit of her falling from grace, and she only ever did any real damage to other gang members, and she also realizes it was wrong to do. She makes up for her wrongdoings, something she strongly believes in people doing, by being extremely pacifistic now, unless she's fighting for a greater good. It's also important to note that even though Haine comes from money herself, she doesn't like to be categorized based on her wealth, though she does appear to own a lot of expensive things and goes to a very expensive school.

Instinctual and rash, Haine is very quick on her feet and hasty, not very good at thinking things through. She's one of those people who does something dumb and realizes it a split second afterwards. When engaged in combat, though, she's very good at thinking on her feet and making the best of her situation just by a natural talent for violence. While imaginative and creative, she's not extremely good with words (her Japanese grades were always Ds) and can sometimes trip up on what she says.

Because she was used as a transaction piece and given up on by her family and the man that had adopted her finally had a real son, Haine became a yanki gang member, fearing she had no place left for her. She now realizes, of course, that while she wouldn't take the experiences back, they were not the smartest decisions and made her even more unworthy of being loved, especially by the man she loved herself. While Haine exudes a certain kind of elegance, her self esteem is awful. She thinks she can never be completely redeemed and is doomed to stay in the darkness forever, never being good enough to be loved by anyone. In later chapters, she is finally broken of this belief, but it's still something that she's held onto for quite some time. She forgave her parents for lying to her and selling her, but she never really recognized that it was their fault and not hers. For quite some time, she had no contact with her real mother and the person she assumed to be her real father just because they ostracized her, not because she didn't want to be with them. She expresses that a dream of hers is to "become someone that her father is proud of". Haine loves her family, but still holds a lot of internal issues with self-loathing relating to instances they put her through. She's a lot more positive now, but her feelings are still there through most of the manga.

Haine was well known in her area as the Hama Cinderella, a vicious gang member. She fought constantly and while she's not in a gang anymore, she's still extremely capable when it comes to a fight. Post-gang, she fought off a hoard of snakes, was the bodyguard of her school's student council, fought numerous returning gang members, and reenlisted for a short period of time. She's extremely capable with her hands and feet in battle, normally using kicks and other gymnastic like moves. It's also shown she's good at sword play, as she beat another member of the student council in a duel once.

Less important abilities include a slew of classes her family made her take when she was younger, though she dropped them all pretty quickly. Her abilities in them will be extremely rusty and at an elementary level. They include ballet, tea ceremony, flower arrangement, the piano, along with possibly others related to traditional Japanese culture and talents.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

✔ Extremely cheerful and optimistic most of the time.
✔ Good at reading people
✔ Strong sense of justice
✔ Incredibly strong and an excellent fighter
✔ Loving and caring for pretty much everyone
✔ Great work ethic

✔✘ Very rash and acts before she thinks
✔✘ Easy to forgive and forget

✘ Not very intelligent
✘ Low self-esteem
✘ Computer and technologically illiterate
✘ Extremely guarded
✘ Has problems with money
✘ Daddy issues
✘ Not very healthy (weight/food wise)

PROJECTED CLASS:
WARRIOR ➜ PALADIN : Haine is and always has been a fierce fighter. While she has had her falls from grace, her biggest wish is to live in the light and be someone people can be proud of, thus pushing her from a Punisher to a Paladin; a more "good guy" type would be best for her. Because she has the dual want to protect those she loves and fight for her own place in the world, I feel this is best for her.

The sword swings and hits its mark; bark goes flying.

Haine pulls it from the trunk with great ease, smiling at the large chunk of wood she's removed from the tree. "Sorry, sir! But I need to train, you know." Even though the tree can't hear or, you know, reason, she still feels like she should say something. She's cut quite a few chunks from the trunk, now, having been practicing striking now for quite some time.

While she has quite a bit of experience with working with a shinai, a sword actually slices and sticks, rather than the long and slender bamboo that can hit and splinter. Plus, the sword is much heavier, though she has no problem with that at all. Even though her biceps and legs are slender, and her body is mostly fat, she somehow has the strength of a well built man.

She draws the sword back, falling into a protective stance, shifting her hands around the hilt. She actually feels quite powerful wielding an actual weapon with murderous powers...though murder isn't something she wants, even in extreme situations. Haine's read enough period pieces and seen enough dramas to know that in a situation like this, the best thing to do is to prepare yourself for self defense.

That's why she quickly goes from a defensive stance to a striking one, hitting the tree again with lightening speed, striking with a grunt in a place she's already struck. This time, she'll have to work a little more to pull it from the bark.

IC
NAME: Austria
CANON: Axis Powers Hetalia
CANON POINT: 2013
AGE: 1036, appears 25
APPEARANCE: here
PERSONALITY: Personality: On the outside, he can come off as a spoiled cat. Proud, bordering on arrogant. No-nonsense, and has a hard time dealing with people who don't get straight to the point. If he's not being (not so subtly) passive-aggressive, he's brutally honest. Quietly witty. Analytical. Has a great heart, but will generally only show it through knowing glances and subtle deeds (like letting Italy have the day off after Holy Roman Empire left and doing the dishes himself)... at least to those with whom he is not as closely acquainted.

He has a tendency to be apathetic when it comes to misfortune, and at times a little bit insensitive. He also tends to wash his hands of things rather than taking responsibility. Even after an overwhelming majority of Austrians (97%, according to Himaruya) were in favor of an annexation with Germany, and even though Austria appears to be very fond of him, he will not hesitate to say “everything is Germany’s fault,” even when it has nothing to do with Germany (such as Austria and Hungary’s late arrival for the Christmas party in 2011). For obvious reasons, Himaruya does not specify what this is in reference to (he doesn’t even like to mention the name of the dictator involved, and neither do I!), but it is heavily implied that it’s referring to blaming Germany entirely for the annexation, instead of admitting his own part in accepting it. This is sort of crudely referenced in the Valentine’s Day strips when Germany went to “practice” on Austria. Austria shows great disapproval after the fact, but Germany points out that Austria took off his pants on his own. He also shows somewhat of an indifference to those around him with certain matters, like when he elected a president who was an officer in the German army, despite several other nations’ disapproval. His nonchalance aggravates his colleagues, but honestly, he does what he wants. Fight him. Except don’t, because he’s neutral. (You wouldn’t hit a guy with glasses, would you?)

He is rather vain. Himaruya has stated that his glasses are purely for aesthetic purposes, and he does not need them to see. Himaruya compared Austria’s glasses to his music – without them, he seems quite simple. His hair naturally falls straight (aside from his single hair curl) but he feels that this does not flatter him as it makes him look too unsophisticated, and so he styles his hair to make it look wavy. When no one is around, he is actually quite lazy, sloppy, and has difficulty taking care of himself. After his divorce, Hungary was seen sneaking into his room to clean, and Austria wondered how his room cleaned itself. He gives an impression of being quite well put-together, but in reality is rather scattered. He gets lost very easily and has a terrible sense of direction – in the Valentine’s Day strips, Austria had planned on going out to purchase a valentine for Hungary (even though they were already divorced). Germany warned him that if he got lost, he wouldn’t be able to come pick him up. Upon hearing this, Austria sat back down, abandoning his plans and deciding instead to bake her the treats himself. Germany noted, “you were planning on getting lost?” It is such a common occurrence that Austria has already resigned himself to his terrible sense of direction, and it’s interesting to note that despite being perfectly capable of turning out flawlessly baked pastries, his first instinct was still to be lazy and just buy her one at the store. Classy. When Prussia decided it would amuse him to go to his friends’ houses to clean for them, Austria was found passed out cold on the couch after breakfast, and his underwear was all over the house. (He’s presented several times in canon as being “all about underwear.” There was this instance when Prussia wondered “what is it with him and underwear,” and another time a fan wrote in asking about the history of underwear. The topic was turned over to Austria to explain, since he was supposedly the expert. Austria did acknowledge his expertise, but he stressed that he wouldn’t go into vulgar details.)

He’s afraid of marine life. This is also never explained (although getting violated by a squid on track 8 of the first drama CD probably didn’t help).

Frugal as all get-out, but he values top quality on the finer things in life - pastry, music, trinkets, and performance spaces. He saves room for dessert - literally and figuratively. His savory dishes, while delicious, are quite simple. Desserts and pastries, however, are quite complex and often labor-intensive (and he tends to make a terrible mess of the kitchen when making them, as seen in the Valentine’s Day strips). He brought common sausages to the battlefield, though, so he doesn’t feel the need to be extravagant with savories (it impressed England, though, but that’s not saying much). Under the surface? Enormously passionate. Mostly this manifests itself in his love for music, and instead of losing his temper entirely when Germany allied with Italy, he chose to express his anger through the piano – and he looked quite satisfied with himself and relieved afterwards. It’s a catharsis for him. It is said that the true Viennese spirit is characterized by the following: "One eye laughing, the other eye weeping." He embodies this image perfectly to the public eye, and with the utmost class. And any crack in that shell of class and poise will make him feel quite insecure, even if it’s something as simple as Germany seeing him dropping a breakfast tray. In his boxers. (Which he blamed on Germany, naturally.) Furthermore, when he found out that France had taken candid photos of him around the house – sleeping, brushing his teeth, picking flowers, putting a bird on his head, a gratuitous crotch shot – he was so enraged that he felt the need to punish France with a riding crop (see here). He’s also a bit of a coffee addict. When there was a coffee shortage in Europe, Austria was shown looking extremely distressed. Germany managed to concoct dandelion coffee, which Italy liked, but there was no word as to whether or not Austria approved of it.

Himaruya noted how mysterious it was that though Germans and Austrians have the same roots, Germans are more hardworking and Austrians are more laid-back. Austria tends to focus too much time on his hobbies, rather than work. Austria is an incredible perfectionist, but he is too laid back to be very productive. When he asked Spain to help him make flowers, he listened to the advice, but still went on his way of taking entirely too much time to perfect everything. It is tied into his laziness – he is often trying to get someone else to do his more mundane work for him, but somehow he has had enough time to hone his skills as a musician. Not that that’s invalid work! But it’s work that he wants to do, and it’s entirely on his own terms. And honestly, his skewed priorities show in his former foreign policy. Himaruya noted that Austria’s favorite way to solve problems was to marry off people (literally, the Habsburg motto was “Let others wage war – you, happy Austria, marry”). Austria has a history of finding others to do his work for him when he knows (or hastily declares) a weakness. He gained power as an empire through marriage, not through his own military strength – when those former allies and pawns turned on him, it left him with very little to fight back with since he never became strong himself. Despite this, he’s still willing to suggest it as a means to solve completely unrelated problems. (Possibly, he’s kidding; it’s never clarified. The point is, it’s not something he feels ashamed of in the least, even to this day after becoming neutral and having abandoned such a policy in practice.)

He is interested in psychology and sexuality – or at the very least, he is a bit of an authority on textbook romance (in practice? Not SO much). In the Valentine’s Day strips, Germany went to Austria for advice on dating Italy. He’d bought a dating advice book, and Austria thought to himself that he would have let Germany borrow the book if he’d asked, since he was also an avid reader of it. When Germany asks for more advice, Austria asks if he’s had any experience. Germany says he’s read romance novels, but Austria says that reality is not as sweet as fiction, indicating that he has experience on the matter. He is however proven wrong on his theories on how it would work in practice, because when Hungary read the book that he’d trusted, she thought the advice was very silly. It’s a bit ironic, considering he was an avid reader of the book and it is called “How To Treat Your First Partner,” and Hungary is conceivably Austria’s first partner (his intimacy with/attachment to Spain is unclear, while he cares for Hungary enough to send her Valentines and to strip naked in order to buy her stupid animal hats), although it’s never specified. Based on this, it seems like he has at least a better instinct for romance than Germany (assuming he was competent enough for Hungary to still be surprised at some of the advice given in the book), but is fascinated enough to read about it in-depth. Talking about it in general terms makes it "okay" to discuss. Sharing personal things? Absolutely not, how dare you. He yells at Germany for saying “vulgar” things when he asks more intimate questions. (But still takes his pants off for him. Actions speak louder than words, I guess.)

He displays OCD-like traits. He is a bit of a hoarder, hanging on to old belongings and becoming upset if he sees someone else not doing the same – directly related to the aforementioned frugality. He was shown throwing a fit when Germany threw out old underwear, saying that Franz Joseph would be ashamed if he saw it. He then proceeded to take the underwear and patch it up himself. This might indicate a bit of skill in sewing, but the patch looked pretty obvious and tacky when he gave it back to him to wear. He also mentioned that Beethoven counted exactly sixty beans in every coffee cup, which he declared was a quintessentially Austrian trait.

All in all, his stuffy exterior can’t quite be called a façade, as it isn’t insincere. Poise and glamorous aloofness come naturally to him. But he does take great pains to hide his laziness, sloppiness, and general dependency on others to take care of him. He is getting better at this! But if there’s someone around to do things for him, it’s all too easy for him to default to being the spoiled child he was back in his empire days.

PROJECTED CLASS: Austria is a quintessential bard. Not only is he a superbly talented musician, but his politics in the past often reflected a bard's qualities. He was quite powerful, but never very strong, and he kept his strength through alliances and marriages. His own Habsburg motto was "let others wage war; you, happy Austria, marry." When he was not strong enough to fight successfully alone (which was most of the time) he called upon his allies and underlings to fight for him. Strategically, he often stood on the sidelines for support while others fought. Status as a bard would suit him quite naturally.

THIRD PERSON SAMPLE

Austria had searched through several shops, feeling rather lost (and quite frankly, he was). While he had no money, he thought he would at least explore some of the local businesses to see what he might purchase when he was able. There were many weapons shops, and while he was proficient with a sword, he considered himself to be done with such matters. At least there aren't guns, he thought. Too many awful memories.

Weaponry didn't excite him so much anymore.

But as he strolled through town, feeling out of place, he spotted a musical instrument shop. And when he entered, he saw a plethora of things he hadn't seen in centuries. Some, he noted, weren't recognizable at all. He had to remind himself that although it looked a bit like he'd gone back in time, it was still another world entirely. It hadn't yet occurred to him that that would mean new instruments: new sound, and new music. The thought thrilled him, and for a moment, he wasn't as homesick as before.

But he was going to start with something he recognized.

"Sir," he called quietly, "the portative organ furthest to the left. May I try it?"

He was handed the instrument, and instantly he felt as if he were centuries younger again. How was it so small in his hands now? He didn't have to lie on his belly to play it; he was now strong and tall enough to hold it as it was meant to be held. He still had his own back home, yes, but he was afraid to play it very often due to its age. This, though, was new, and he hadn't seen that sort of craftsmanship since the instrument was popular. He ran his fingers, now long and wiry instead of short and plump, over the carvings and paintings. That was half of the appeal, he remembered - he'd look at all the angels hidden in the scrollwork, the patterns and designs, and create stories. And from those stories, he'd create music.

After he played an old favorite of his, working it skillfully, he handed it back to the shop owner. His eyes were glassier than before. He noticed that the man was impressed, and quite frankly, Austria knew, he should be. But he feigned modesty, lowering his eyes and looking away as he returned his hands to his pockets.

"I'll return when I have the funds," he smiled courteously.
