about applying
If you'd like to apply for a character, you're in the right place! As of June 24, applications are now always open. Fill out one of the two forms on this page depending on the type of character you're applying for and post it in the comments of this entry. While you fill out your application, here are a few things to keep in mind:

• Please read over the rules and FAQ before you begin to fill out your application—This will save you headaches later!
  
• Check the taken and reserved pages to make sure that your character isn't listed on either (unless you reserved them, naturally).
  
• Please check your application for spelling and grammatical errors. While we're hardly going to reject for a misspelled word or two, a large amount of errors makes us much more likely to reject an application.
  
• Plagiarism is unacceptable. If we find an application has been plagiarized, it will result in immediate rejection and a ban from the game.
  
• You may app ONE character per round, for a total of THREE characters in the game. You may have two characters from the same canon provided they have little or no interaction in canon.
  
• If you're already in the game, all of your current characters must have passed the last AC to apply for a new character. If this is your first character, don't worry about this, of course!
  
• When posting your application, please format the subject line of your first comment in some form of Character Name - Series - Reserved/Unreserved in that order. Do not link to your application.
  
• Original characters are allowed, but their applications are judged to a much higher standard than canon characters. We want to make sure that the character and their world are thought-out and developed. This isn't meant to discourage such characters in the slightest, so all this really means is take care to explain the world your character comes from especially, since all we have to judge them by is what you tell us!
  
• If we ask for a revision, don't worry! Usually we just need clarification on something before we decide on your application. If you are asked for one, you have five days to supply the requested revision.

PROJECTED CLASS: Lancer ↠ Cavalier

Once upon a time, Kyouko dreamed of living a life out of a storybook and being the hero, where good always trumps bad. She is somewhat depicted as Sayaka's knight in the series (or toward the end of it), but she overall embodies the traits of a cavalier. While those who are knights stand on the front lines protecting their allies, Kyouko's first priority is - usually - herself. When she fights, she's extremely agile and is only rivaled by Homura and her ability to manipulate time, and she's not only able to maneuver the spear she wields (another trait of a cavalier) with precision and power, but with speed as well.


OTHER: ok, i read over the faq so i'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but because kyouko's soul gem is kind of a supernatural/magical sort of thing, does that mean it disappears with her powers? or is it like yeah your soul used to be here but you can wear it as a necklace or something to remember that everything was suffering.

FIRST PERSON SAMPLE:

(i am aware that technology isn't super up-to-date in dyspros, but for the sake of this sample, i'm gonna use one of those dang newfangled communication devices as sort of a "general" game thing around dw)

[ the feed abruptly clicks on to display a fuzzy image of someone way to close to the screen, the shot switching from the view of what was probably a nostril to to an ear - which quickly turns the display black - and finally to a low-angle shot of kyouko's not-so-happy face. ]

Hey! The hell is going on here?! [ she shakes the device in a what gives? sort of fashion, not yet aware that she's broadcasting to the entire channel. push buttons, hope things happen. that's the way to do it. ] What is this, a cellphone? [ she's seen them before but like hell has she ever had her own. in between her family being at rock bottom and kyouko living on her own, when would she never need one? a camera, however, she has seen and when she notices the little red light for the first time, she acts a little haughty that she's finally figured it out. ]

Oh, is this stupid thing working now? Whoever's out there: listen up! You've got a lotta guts, but dropping me off in the middle of nowhere makes you a coward. I don't have time for this, so why don't you just come over here now so I can kick your ass and get outta here?

THIRD PERSON SAMPLE

Being picked on was not something she was expecting to happen, but it isn't anything Kyouko can't handle. Hell, wasn't like she didn't start anything with any of the girls back home. It happens within the guild walls, even - so much for all of the heroes in here.

"Hey, how old are you, kid? Twelve? I don't think you're in the right place. I'm a knight and you look more like a chick I should be saving." He pauses, laughs, then decides to toss in some more of his genius. "Not that I would save you."

Kyouko doesn't do much more than glare at him from the corner of her eyes, mostly unfazed, and polishes the shiny skin of her apple on her shirt before taking a large bite out of it, not bothering to give this guy the time of day as she closes her eyes as if to block his existence out, as well. But of course, it isn't that easy.

"Just going to ignore me, huh?"

Before Kyouko can answer, That's the plan, her hand is jerked away from her body and she watches the barely eaten apple roll across the dirt in front of her, wobbling a little before resting at her feet. Her expression darkens, and for a moment, the person teasing her feels he's won, but Kyouko has something for him before he gets to gloat. Two somethings, actually, those being the fists he finds curled in the collar of his shirt.

"Listen, fuckhead. I don't even know your name but you just gave me a few reasons to hate you and you're gonna wish you didn't piss me off."

The little scene begins to attract some attention, murmurs of concern and interest rising from other guild members over any previous conversations.

"First off, that food you knocked outta my hand? You're luckly I don't pay you back by knockin' out a few of your teeth."

"Who the hell - "

Kyouko releases her hold on the boy and drops him unceremoniously, looking down at him from where she still stands.

"Second, I don't got a bone to pick with you over anything - until now - and still for some reason you're trying to start a fight with me before we go inside of that stupid, creepy castle in there. I'd kick your ass if I thought it was worth my time."

Removing her hands from her hips, she dusts them off on her pants, and the corners of her mouth turn down further. This guy looks like a wuss, now, still on his ass staring up at her like she's an alien or something. Definitely different from before. A girl who looks a little older than her approaches the two of them, starting off with, "Hey, you two, you shouldn't fight before..." but Kyouko cuts her off with a raised hand.

"I'm not totally for all of that hero bullcrap, and maybe you ain't, either. But if you're gonna call yourself a knight, you better shape up. I know someone who would chew you up and spit you out if you did that in front of her. Hell, she'd probably try and kick my ass for even being here."

She exhales through her nose, her frown a smirk. Yeah - that's definitely what she'd do. That moment of amusement is short lived, and after a moment, Kyouko is back to frowning down at the kid below her.

"I've got more important stuff to do, like actually fighting something that at least makes me feel like I'm putting in some kinda effort. You? You're just a coward. If this is how you always are, and I were in charge? I'd send your ass packing."

Reaching into her pocket, she retrieves some graham crackers wrapped in tinfoil and tears them open, breaking it in half when she lifts it to her mouth. When she's done, she's back to smirking, satisfied enough to be on her way.

"If ya know what's good for ya, we aren't gonna have this kinda conversation again."

Turning to leave, she raises her hand over her head in a halfhearted wave.

"See ya!"
