FIRST PERSON SAMPLE: test drive meme thread is here
THIRD PERSON SAMPLE These are not the streets of Ikebukuro. Mikado can’t help but think that each time he walks through the town, wide eyes taking in the sights. The buildings are different, the way of life is different, and most of all, his phone can’t connect to the Dollars bulletin board, which makes him feel lonely in a way he hadn’t expected. Even if his life had gotten out of control back home, he’d always felt like he was a part of something, and he’d clung to being part of that long past the point where he should have stepped back.

Now, walking through these streets alone, it’s far more lonely than that first day in Tokyo. After all, he can’t just log on and ask his questions of people he already knows, and he’s left struggling to sort out his future on his own. The strange faces on the mystical gym device he’s been given are interesting, but have no real context yet, and the people before him... well, maybe they’re the upside.

After all, as Mikado walks through the streets of the strange city, he finds himself wide-eyed staring quite often. The clothing styles are different, but that’s not al! The people here all seem to be busy with different types of commerce that he’s never seen before, and openly carrying strange weapons from bygone times, or ones he never knew existed at all! Not only that, but if he keeps his eyes open, he can catch hints of what seems like an underworld existing in this place as well, and a little thrill goes through him that’s a mixture of fear and excitement the first time he takes a wrong turn and winds up in a dark alleyway.

Before he knows it, he’s walking faster, trying to take in everything at once. If he doesn’t understand everything that is being said - for lack of context - and if he stops and bows once when bumping into a stranger on the street, and if he doesn’t quite fit in yet... that’s just all the more reason for his racing heart, and the smile that’s spreading across his face.

“This isn’t Ikebukuro...”

And when he says it aloud, it’s easy to tell that the boy is terrified and elated at once.
